Stay calm โ your loved one can feel your panic
Don't argue with delusions or hallucinations
Speak slowly, use short sentences, lower your voice
Remove weapons or dangerous objects if safe to do so
Call 988 first if not in immediate danger
If calling 911, say: "psychiatric emergency" + diagnosis + specific behavior
Request a CIT-trained officer
Have medication list and diagnosis ready to share with responders
